Getting the Bus

The bus stop is located right by the hotel and buses are every 2/3 minutes. We are also just under 10 minutes from Newcastle Central train station and 20 minutes from the airport. Both Newcastle and Northumbria University are both under a 10-minute walk from the hotel or 5 minutes on the bus.

Which buses?

Where's the Bus Stop?

Continue to walk down the road until you get to the bridge, and then cross over the road via the traffic lights and follow the road (there will be Rehill’s of Jesmond convenience store to your left across the road and Dene’s Deli on your right).

Once you come to the end of this road you will see Holy Trinity Church, turn right onto Rosebery Crescent so that the church is now on your left and the Rosebery Hotel will be on your right-hand side.

Additionally, if you wanted to go to the Freeman Hospital, this is the bus stop from which you would catch the 38 bus.

To go into the city centre, please use the bus stop on the opposite side of the road, again taking the number 38. You can get to this stop by turning right after exiting the hotel onto Rosebery Crescent and then take the second right after passing the grass area on your right and follow the stone wall down to the main road (A1058). The bus stop will be located a short walk (1-2 minutes) up this road on your left.

This is also the bus stop you should depart your bus coming back from the Freeman Hospital.

Buses to the city run every 5 minutes,  buses pass through Cradlewell, in which the Rosebery is situated; you’ll be surprised just how close you are to the bus stop, which is just around the corner and less than a one minute walk from the hotel.

For guests visiting relatives in the Freeman hospital, we always recommend taking the number 38 or 38A bus from just behind the Rosebery. This will get you to the hospital in approximately 10 minutes maximum, saving you time when you need it most.

The city centre is only around five minutes away by bus, metro or taxi. The majority of all buses that stop in Cradlewell will take you into Newcastle, with drop off points at John Dobson Street, Northumberland Street or Haymarket bus station. Routes include the 306, 308, 309 and 310, so you won’t be left waiting and can avoid any confusion.

By walking along Cradlewell, past the cafes, restaurants and gym, you will be on your way to Jesmond metro station. This is ten minutes away on foot and will get you into town in a matter of minutes, wherever you need to be in Newcastle, such as Central Station, Haymarket or Monument next to shopping centre Eldon Square and the Theatre Royal. West Jesmond near Osbourne Street, home to Jesmond’s best bars is only one stop along from Jesmond metro.

You can also take a taxi if you need to reach somewhere quickly or are unable to take public transport. There are often special deals for the airport of train station routes. Firms like Blueline (, 0191 262 6666), Five Star (0191 222 0555) and LA Taxis (0191 2877777) will all pick you up from the door of the Rosebery and drop you off at your destination quickly with a polite service to make sure your stay in the area is as smooth as your time in the Rosebery hotel.

Getting a Taxi

The hotel is located just off the A1058, which is a main arterial route to the coast. To drive to the hotel is very easy, in all directions. From the Newcastle Train Station, it is an easy 8-10 minute drive based on the time of day.

If you do not have a car with you on your trip then we would advise that the best and most reliable way to reach us is via taxi, there are a number of taxi branches that operate in Newcastle but there are a few that our guests often like to use.

If you choose to travel by taxi, it would only take you around 10-15 minutes at a cost of no more than £5-£8 depending on the time of day.
